Dorothy's Brown Sugar Icing

Great as a spread on cookies but works equally well for spice or applesauce cake
4 1/2 tablespoons butter |
9 tablespoons whipping cream (1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon) |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons brown sugar |
3 cups powdered sugar |
- Combine all icing ingredients except powdered sugar and bring to a boil, stirring. (I did this in the microwave.)
- Boil 2 minutes. Cool and add powdered sugar.
- Note: Evaporated milk can be substituted for whipping cream.
